The Diabetes Education Fund (DEF) is a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt, non-profit corporation that was established in November, 2001 for the purpose of raising funds to be distributed to organizations that teach diabetes management.The goal of the DEF is to improve the quality of diabetes management through the education of diabetics and those who care for them.
The primary source of funding for the DEF is a charity bicycle ride known as the Tour of the Ozarks (TOTO), which has been held on the third Saturday of September since 1998 (however, due to the Tour of Missouri, the Tour of the Ozarks will be held on the fourth Saturday in September for 2007). TOTO begins and ends in Rolla, Missouri, and includes bicycle routes of 12, 25, 50, and 100 miles. The contributions collected by the DEF will be used to support the education and outreach efforts of the following organizations:
